Dispute Over Israeli Professor’s Comments
Ben-Gurion University has angered civil liberties and conservative groups by calling off the courses of a faculty member accused of making an anti-gay remark, Israel News reported. Yeruham Leavitt reportedly said that the children of same-sex couples would not have a "normal" upbringing. And earlier he reportedly offended women in a class when, discussing urges, he said that he is able to control himself despite being "attracted to all women." Leavitt has said he has been misinterpreted and that he supports equity. The Association for Civil Rights in Israel is calling on the university to restore his courses.
