Competence + Complexity = Financial Aid Professional Credentialing? IPM Committee to Survey Members

Teachers, Architects, Interpreters, Real Estate Agents -- do you know what these occupations have in common? They are all credentialed professions that use a complex knowledge base to perform their daily job activities. In each case, the leadership within the profession has defined what competence means and what is required to claim that competence through skills, training and demonstrated qualifications. Those credentials are used as a foundation to build the status of the profession, to enhance the credibility of the practitioners, and improve the quality of training for those entering the profession in the future. NASFAA's Institutional Program Management Committee was charged this year with exploring financial aid credentialing, and now it would like to hear from you.

Leadership Conference Offers Advice on Visits to Capitol Hill

NASFAA's annual Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., is a unique training opportunity designed primarily for individuals in leadership positions or about to assume such positions within their state and regional associations. One of the highlights of the conference every year is the opportunity for conferees to visit their congressional representatives to advocate directly on behalf of students and be a part of Democracy in action. NASFAA has prepared a webinar focusing on the preparatory steps to take before coming to DC to meet with representatives; current topics and issues to consider; and what to expect during a visit to the Hill.
