Direct and FFELP Loan Volume — What a Difference a Year Makes

The number of higher education institutions participating in the Direct Loan Program has increased from 1,223 in 2007-08 to 2,090 in 2009-10, according to the Department of Education. Meanwhile, the number of institutions participating in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) fell from 4,625 in 2007-08 to 4,064 in 2009-10. The Department's Director of Forecasting and Policy Analysis Dan Madzelan highlighted this data during his presentation at the Professional Development Conference for Health Professions Financial Aid Administrators held Jan. 13 to 15 in Tampa, FL.

Eastern Gateway President: YEC Should Remain at YSU
